PROJECT ACTIONS
The planning meeting took place in the beautiful training center of the Austrian Red
Cross. The meeting was attended by consortium members and partners (APELL-RO, AT, LV, RO, FYROM, FR), as well as by co-trainers from participating modules. The director of
the Red Cross Training Center attended also the meeting.
During the meeting, each module representative (Belgian High Capacity Pumping, Romanian High Capacity Pumping, Bulgarian High Capacity Pumping and the Finish TAST) delivered a presentation about the configuration of the team and technical information about the equipment, altogether with the expected learning objectives
aimed to be achieved. A sites’ survey was organized to the locations where the exercise incidents will be simulated according to the scenario and also the Base of
operations emplacement. For the exercise the Austrian Red Cross (the local Partner) 2017 has selected an important number of sites in the surrounding of Laubegg and Leibniz. This will be a 4-days exercise with field activities focusing mainly on operational cooperation of all involved partners within the framework of the Union Civil Protection Mechanism after a large scale flooding.

B. The exercise

From 04 to 07 May 2017, in Laubegg, Austria, took place the third exercise within Cycle 7 2016-2017 - Lot II: exercises for flood related modules, medical capabilities, civil protection experts and TAST. The exercise consisted of 3 days’ field activities and focused on operational cooperation of all involved partners within the framework of the Union Civil Protection Mechanism, following a large scale flooding in western and southern part of Romania. The capabilities involved in the exercise were: High Capacity Pumping module from Romania, Bulgaria and Belgium and a TAST team from Finland. The exercise was organized by the CN APELL RO, as leading consortium, and Austrian Red Cross as partner, in compliance with the service contract T2/N°ECHO/SER/2015/718122 signed with the European Commission. The modules operated on a 24/7 basis, receiving both day and night tasks and being requested to switch location according to the changing operational priorities. The modules’ activities were coordinated by an international team of experts from various European Member States.
